The resurgence of heatwave conditions in Delhi and the National Capital Region is alarming. Heat waves can pose serious health risks, especially to vulnerable populations, such as the elderly, young children, and those with pre-existing health conditions. It is crucial for residents in the affected areas to take precautions to stay safe during this period of hot weather.
During a heatwave, everyone seeks the cool air of a fan or AC and cold water inside the house. However, it is a very sad time for Delhiites as they are not receiving proper electricity and water supply.
Power Crisis
According to the report of Hindustan Times, A Delhi Transco Limited (DTL) official confirmed the incident, stating the fire occurred at a 400 kV substation at Mandola, UP. Delhi’s power minister Atishi said on platform X that, Parts of Delhi experienced a power outage for over two hours due to a fire at the sub-station of the Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL), which supplies nearly 1,200 MW of power to Delhi. The fire broke out around 2:11 pm, causing the disruption in power supply.
Water Crisis
On the other hand, Delhi is reeling under an alarming water crisis. On Monday, Lt Governor V K Saxena met with Delhi ministers Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj and assured them that he would address the water supply issue with the Haryana government. He advised them to refrain from engaging in a “blame game” and encouraged them to resolve the issues amicably.
“The effect of Delhi getting so little water will be felt at all seven water treatment plants, Bawana, Nangloi, Haiderpur, Wazirabad, Chandrawal, and Okhla. If water is not supplied to all seven treatment plants, then there will be chaos in the whole of Delhi. Till now, only some parts of Delhi have been affected by water, in the coming days, this problem will be seen in the whole of Delhi,” said the AAP minister Atishi.
AAP ruling state Delhi mainly depends on Uttar Pradesh for power and Haryana for water. Both are BJP ruling states. So blame game is on from both side.
Delhiites are suffering.
