Panchayat: Unseen Layers and Hidden Gems

The Hindi web series called Panchayat is a favorite show among many Indians. Currently, three seasons of this show have been released. It is loved by people of different tastes, classes, and age groups. The main USP of the show is its realistic comedy depicting the simple lifestyles of ground-level village people. Panchayat doesn’t feature wonderful exotic locations, dance sequences with catchy high-beat songs, extremely pure or impure characters, unnatural dialogues, unnecessary overacting, or thrilling action scenes. The entire web series maintains a down-to-earth flow and a real-life feeling throughout all the seasons so far. In this web series, you can find many memorable moments. There are numerous little details that evoke amazing feelings when noticed properly. Here, we are going to highlight some of the moments, facts, and acting that are underrated, less discussed, or perhaps overlooked by many.

1. Pradhan Ji’s smile

In the first season of the Panchayat web series, there is a scene with Pradhan Ji, Sachiv Ji, and Vikas sitting together in the panchayat office, discussing the topic of dowry. Sachiv Ji stated that he would never accept dowry, and you can observe a very cute and sweet smile on Pradhan Ji’s face. This smile seems to suggest that Pradhan Ji may have considered Sachiv Ji as a suitable groom for his daughter. This smile is a testament to the great acting skills of the actor Raghuvir Yadav.

2. Guilt of Vikas

You may have noticed that whenever Vikas makes a mistake, he displays a distinct facial expression. The feeling of guilt causes Vikas to become silent and look downward, causing the usual smile on the boy’s face to disappear. This quality makes the actor Chandan Roy very special.

3. New Sachiv

In the third season of the show, we see a new person being sent to serve as the new Sachiv of Phulera Panchayat, replacing Abhishek Tripathi. The role was portrayed by actor Vinod Suryavanshi. From dialogues to facial expressions and body language, you can notice an extreme smoothness in his acting. However, it seems that he is relatively underrated.

4. Rinki’s Call to Sachiv Ji

Rinki’s call to Sachiv ji

At the end of the first episode of the third season of Panchayat, Rinki and Sachiv Ji have a phone call where she explains how Sachiv Ji’s transfer was cancelled. After detailing everything about the MLA’s misdeeds, Rinki said, “Ab batao, koi aisa kaise kar sakta hai?” (“Now just tell, how can someone do this?”), in a very gossipy manner. This single sentence indirectly indicates that after providing all the information, Rinki wanted to engage in some light-hearted, friendly conversation with Sachiv Ji to prolong the call. Actress Sanvikaa nailed it.

5. The MLA’s Party

Vidhayak Ji, or the MLA, has a strong fondness for green jackfruits or Kathaal. Conversely, Phulera’s Pradhan Ji grows a lot of gourds or lauki in his house, which he frequently gifts to almost everyone. These two vegetables are used as metaphors to symbolize the two sides of the battle. Even the party logo of the MLA and his flag feature a pair of jackfruits. Did you notice this detail? Anyway, which of these two vegetables is your favorite?

6. The Chemistry Between Rinki and Sachiv Ji

At the beginning of their journey, there were some awkward encounters between Rinki and Sachiv Ji. Now, they are slowly growing closer to each other in a very sweet way. If you carefully observe and consider their chemistry, you will likely notice that Rinki’s portrayal appears more natural than Sachiv Ji’s. Jitendra Kumar is a brilliant actor and he sets a new milestone in playing the role of Abhishek Tripathi. However, in the romantic moments, Sanvikaa outshines the great Jeetu Bhaiya. Her body language, eye movements, smiles, and dialogues… she embodies exactly what Rinki would do.

7. Pradhan Ji and Villagers

A fundamental truth about Indian villages is that most villagers know each other very well. In the small village of Phulera, this fact is even more pronounced. In the first episode of the first season of Panchayat, we can see everyone is curious about Abhishek, asking to know who he is and where he is going. In this case, everyone in Phulera definitely knew Brij Bhushan Dube very well before he became the Pradhan (Pradhan Pati). However, every villager in Phulera was addressing him by his current position: Pradhan Ji. Does this sound unnatural to you?

8. Raveena and Ganesh’s Relationship

Rinki’s friend Raveena and her husband Ganesh play significant roles in the third season. We see them helping Rinki and Sachiv Ji to grow closer. In the second season, the sharp-witted Raveena suspected that there was something developing between them. In the third season, we witness both Raveena and Ganesh actively trying to bring Rinki and Sachiv Ji closer together. They orchestrated a situation where Rinki and Sachiv Ji ended up sitting together in the car. As viewers, we can infer that Raveena and Ganesh had a discussion about them and pre-planned this action. It is evident that there is a strong bond between the married couple.

These were some aspects you may not have noticed. There are numerous notable moments throughout the three seasons of this web series. Today we focused on some hidden points that deserve attention. Do you have more of these in mind? You are welcome to share in the comment section.
