What aims should a scientist have?

It goes without saying that we live in a modern era where people’s lives are getting easier than they were in the past. There is no doubt that scientific developments are occurring at a great rate. At the same time, we have to admit that some of them do not seem to help people’s well-being. This article will argue that science should not have goals that can be harmful to people, but scientists should have determination to further their activities and understanding as much as to develop people’s lives.

There is a strong argument that, for scientists, social development should be the top priority. Scientists are the ones who have the potential to make discoveries and creative things that can change our world. Like medicine, electricity, telecommunications, and so on, are scientific innovations that have changed lives for the better.

By contrast, sometimes scientists do research just to add more ideas to their knowledge. While they have to make sure that their experiments are not going to harm people, even though it is true to say that sometimes scientists may not know how their results will be applied and used. For instance, once invented dynamite to help with mining who knew one day it would be used as weapon.

Anyway, I would like to say that science should improve people’s lives, and that ought to be one of their main goals.
