When you set off on an active and laborious path like language learning, then it becomes a source of endless happiness if you keep the journey continued. A different kind of happiness is rewarded to the language learners. It’s like discovering a new world which you never imagined of. Hold on! Think about any language which you don’t know. Now, if I play a movie or a news show in that language, you won’t be responding accordingly. But if you start learning it, you’ll find heavenly joy to decode a little bit of that show. The more you learn it, the more you understand, the more you get that heavenly joy out of it. The happiness received when you understand the thoughts of others and express your own thoughts in your target language, is surely make you thank yourself for learning it. You’ll get a new identity. The more numbers of languages you learn, the more identities you get. Having a warm relationship with a language can help you fight against all the stress and pressure. It will boost your confidence. When someone will mention you like this : “Oh, that person knows these languages!”, trust me, you’ll be happy. And of course, very proud of yourself.

02. Developing A New Way To Express

Every language has some unique features which are not easy to translate into another. So, as you spend time with a completely new language, you start to feel a new way to express your feelings. This is something that you have never imagined. A new style of showing emotions, asking questions, composing sentences will make you feel wonder. As you continue to learn, those styles of expression will shape your mind permanently. As a result, you’ll have a different way of building up your thoughts. You’ll have some new words and phrases that can’t be found directly in another language. Thus you slowly develop a new way to express yourself.

03. Knowledge And Awareness

As you keep working with a language, you gradually strengthen a connection with the culture that the language brings with it. You feel a sense of love or a soft corner in your heart for a specific group of people from a specific geographical region having a specific set of food habits. A language will never keep you limited within a language only. It is a way to connect others. You get an exposure to another part of the world. Just like acquiring shares in a company, you are grabbing some shares of a particular culture. A sense of interconnection within different cultures and ethnicities will gradually develop inside you. Correlations among languages may ignite your curiosity about the evolution of the human race. You’ll have a realization that the world is full of diversity and it can be explored in various means. Learning a language is a great start to explore. This process rewards you with a knowledge of new cultures and an awareness of the interconnection with other cultures.

04. Having New People In Life
                              Symbolic Image
It is very obvious that language is a tool that is all about communication. So, learning a language will give you the power to communicate with others. And that’s the actual direct purpose of learning it. You can make good connection with many people, when you can communicate in their language. The more languages you learn, the more power you get to connect with different people. When you try to speak with someone in the native language of that person, you’ll instantly be treated very specially. There are many others who are learning the same language that you are after. In this era of easy modes of communication, it’ll not be very difficult to find some genuine language-buddies whom you can practice with. This will help you to have new people. And for that, you don’t have to be completely flawless in the language. All that counts is your effort. Come on, just speak up. No one is going to judge your effort.
(But before making friends online, I recommend you to be very aware of your safety, privacy and integrity. You can’t make random people your language-buddy. Take time and be patient.)

05. A Challenging Brain Exercise

Learning a language demands a lot of focus, energy, dedication, time and thoughts. It’s a fantastic method to keep your brain active. Memorizing words after words, learning the tenses, genders, change of verbs and pronouns, differentiating the formal and informal, mastering the pronunciation, tones, writing systems and many more rules are there waiting for you. Your brain needs to learn them one by one and manage them all together. It’s a very challenging task. Your brain will have to go out of a comfort zone again and again, to get adjusted into new system. It’s a great way to increase the amount of blood flow inside your thinking organ. As a language learning is a time-taking journey, you’ll never be the same person after learning a language. Every language-session will be felt like your workout session. So it not only gives you satisfaction, but also keeps you mentally healthy and young. So it’s never late to be a student again.

06. Career Opportunities

Here you have to be selective. If you go for a language which is on demand, having a huge number of speakers, then you can get a chance to have a job after learning that language. You get a handful of languages that are financially rewarding. You can also go for the popular languages but learnt by very less number of people; mostly because it’s difficult. Though you don’t have to face competition in that case, your upcoming hard-work becomes harder.
Anyways, some examples of jobs that you can think of, are like interpreter, translator, copywriter, researcher, journalist, travel guide, flight attendant, and obviously a language teacher. If you plan freelancing, then you have options like blogger, YouTuber etc. And definitely the number of opportunities gets multiplied by the number of languages you learn. Yes, language learning can be really fruitful for you, if you keep working with it.

07. Privacy
                         Symbolic Image

Oh, this is fun. You can start learning a specific language with your friend or a group of friends to have a secret communication in public. You can talk about someone just in front of that person without letting him/her get you. This is interesting, isn’t it? But you must keep in mind that in this case, you should choose a language which is very less popular. As your target is to eliminate the chances of your conversation to be understood by others, look for a language which is learnt by very very less people. But here arises one problem. Generally the less learnt languages don’t have enough good resources where you can learn from.
But I must add that making your own code language is the best option here. But this is extremely difficult and time taking. So you can go for mixing more than one languages to make a new one. It all depends on the level of privacy you want.

Those are the 7 benefits of learning languages. Got some other benefits of it? Then please comment down and let us and others know. And have a happy language journey.
