Phalaharini Kalipuja: a tradition worth revering

Today is the day of an auspicious new moon, when all our deeds will be taken care by the prime mother. Today is the day of Phalaharini Kalipuja.

It’s a ritual to offer all the seasonal fruits to Ma Kali on this day. The gross meaning of the name “Phalaharini” is the mother who craves fruits. It is thought to be a continuation of age old tantric ritual to celebrate manifestation of the ultimate mother amidst the enriched orchard of summer.

In spiritual sense, we all are entangled in the eternal karmic cycle by our deeds and their outcomes. Our karma predicts outcome and outcomes lead to next karma. The ultimate liberation from this exhausting cycle is only possible by breaking free of karma and its countless outcomes. This is what the compassion of ma Kali does. She devours all our deeds and provides liberation. That’s why she is phalaharini; who takes away karmaphala.  She is the controller of unstoppable time flow.

So, on this auspicious day, let’s liberate ourself from all the entanglements and focus on the mother goddess. She was, she is, and she’ll remain the eternal salvation for all the exhausted souls. Hail Mother Kali.
